Current and Upcoming Units
As of November 4, 2013, we are finishing up Unit 2 (Poetry).
Unit 3 focuses on Narrative Texts and Writing.
This unit continues the theme of Change by asking students to move from explaining the changes within themselves to exploring the changes within themselves to exploring the changes in world around them. Students analyze the craft of storytelling in both fiction and nonfiction texts and build oral fluency.
Essential Questions: How are people influenced by changes in their worlds? How does a writer effectively craft a story? What makes a good story?
As a culminating activity for our narratives unit, each class will be working to produce a short film, based on an original short story. We will use EDMODO as a "meeting place" to discuss progress and ideas throughout the process. Hopefully, final projects will be ready to share by Friday, December 20, 2013.
